You're (about to be) fired! United Airlines says fewer than 600 of the carrier's approximately 67,000 employees have not vaccinated or applied for an exemption. The employees who did neither will be fired in coming days, the airline promises.

A large North Carolina hospital system has
fired many workers when they refused to vaccinate. In New York State, health care workers
rushed to vaccinate to avoid termination. New York City won a round in its drive to
require teachers to vaccinate. And the union representing Massachusetts
state troopers say many resigned rather than comply with a state vaccine mandate. Here are today's other developments:
September star The TSA says 1,849,171 people passed through security checkpoints yesterday at U.S. airports. It's the best Monday performance in September since Labor Day and represents 78.1% of 2019 volume on a similar day.
United Airlines has banned about 700 people for violating the in-flight mask mandate, says chief executive Scott Kirby.
Asia stays small Only 1.4 million international travelers flew on Asia-Pacific carriers during August, according to the Association of Asia Pacific Airlines. That is just 4% of the 34 million who flew in August, 2019.

Another bounce back weekend Slightly more than 5.6 million people passed through TSA security checkpoints at U.S. airports over the weekend (Friday-Sunday). That is up several hundred thousand from last weekend--and represents 81% of 2019 traffic on a similar weekend. That latter stat was also up from last weekend.
Suicide by Coronavirus II There were 837,185 new Coronavirus cases in the United States during the last week, according to Johns Hopkins. That is down a bit from last week, but the death toll rose to 13,911, higher than last week.
Still swooning in September For the week ending on September 26, Eurocontrol says there were 23,927 flights each day in Europe's skies. That's down 1.2% week over week, but remained at 70.2% of comparative 2019 traffic.
Thailand loosens up Thailand is reducing Covid restrictions on visitors. Effective November 1, vaccinated travelers can enter the capital of Bangkok and several important leisure destinations and no quarantine will be required.
